Hawke’s Bay Beats Manawatu In a game spoiled by a high wind, the Hawke’s Bay Rugby team beat Manawatu by 15 points.to 9at McLean Park. Napier, on Saturday. Manawatu failed to take full advantage of the wind m the first half, and at half-time had a lead of only 6 points to 3.—(P.A.)
Auckland Beats Southland Auckland beat Southland at Invercargill on Saturday in the final representative Rugby game- of the season by 14 points to 9—two tries <ono converted) and two penalty goals, to one unconverted try and two penalty goals. The game was played in stormy weather, and the ground was sodden after heavy overnight rain. The score at half-time favoured Auckland, 11 points to 6. tries for Auckland having been scored by Johnstone and Tanner and Sorenson having kicked a penalty goal and' converted a try. For Southland, Millar kicked a penalty goal and McDonald scored a try. In the second half Sorenson kicked another penalty goal and Millar kicked a penalty goal for Southland. The game was marred by a westerly gale and hail squalls.— (P.A.)
