Cuts In Salaries Ordered
! The J. Arthur Rank Organisation has ordered salary cuts ranging from 10 to 26 per cent, at the Denham and Pinewood film studios, says the Evening News. The cuts will be effective from October 7. Notices were sent to all members of the studios’ staffs who are earning above the minimum union rates. It is understood that more than 250 technicians, craftsmen and contract workers will be affected, The gen- . eral secretary of the Association of i Film Technicians (Mr George Elvin) | has demanded the suspension of the 'notices and immediate talks with Rank executives.—London, September. 23.
