Dr P. O’Shaughnessy has commenced duties at Brunner. The appointment of Mr D. A. Whiting as teacher at the Rotomanu School was confirmed at a meeting of the Canterbury Education Board yesterday. Messrs W. S. McClymont (secretary) and Mr W. S. J. Trotter (engineer) left this morning to represent the Grey Electric Power Board at the annual supply authorities’ conferences. A presentation was made to Mr D. S. Kennedy by the staff of the Greymouth Harbour Board yesterday afternoon at a function in the new workshops. Mr Kennedy has accepted the position of harbour engineer at Devenport, Tasmania, and will leave Greymouth next week. The presentation of a week-end bag and a brief case was ma.de by the president of the Employees’ Union, Mr K. Sara. There were several other speakers and Mr Kennedy briefly replied.
