OVER 600 PRESENT AT GREY MAIN SCHOOL FANCY DRESS BALL

The annual fancy dress ball organised by the Grey Main Home and School Association was held in the Trotting Club pavilion last evening. Over 600 parents and children were present and some excellent costumes were seen. The children enjoyed themselves with a series of folk dances followed by supper. They were then entertained with community singing and a quiz session led by Mr E. S. Butts. The children had been coached in folk dancing by the teaching staff of the Grey Main School and Mr T. McKenzie, physical training instructor.

The function was organised by the Home and School Association and willing helpers on the staff and parents were kept busy, over 40 gallons of cordial, 100 dozen cakes, and 430 bars of chocolate being distributed during the evening. , The master of ceremonies was Mr P. C. Thompson and the president of the Home and School Association, Mr D. S. Binnie thanked all who had helped to make the function such a success. No prizes for fancy costumes were awarded, the money being spent on entertainment.
