POSSIBLE DAMAGE BY STOCK: WARNING GIVEN
[SPECIAL REPORTER] REEFTON, Tills Day—Concern for, the protection from wandering stock, of the newly-laid-out grounds of the nurses’ new home at Reefton, was expressed at yesterday’s meeting of the Inangahua County Council. “Wandering stock may make a mess of these beautiful grounds hi a very short time,” said Cr T. A. Haldane. “The council should issue a statement warning owners that besides fines and court costs, they will face claims for damages in the event of stock being allowed to wander on to the new grounds.” “I don’t like to see the small farmer penalised or to stop people from keeping a cow in the town, but civic pride comes into it,” a said Cr E. Chandler. “Stock cannot be allowed to make a mess of any public property.” he said. A motion proposing that a warning be given, -was carried.
