AUSTRALIA HAS URGENT “NEED OF DOLLAR LOAN”
CANBERRA, This Day (Rec. 2 p.m >. —A dollar loan was needed immediately, said Mr A. W. Fadden, leader of the Country Party, in the House of Representatives. He added that only by means of such a loan could Australia get the machinery to increase production and that only by increased production could Australia achieve the export surplus needed to take advantage of the devaluation of the pound. “Australia is a member of the International Bank and of the Monetary Fund and has handed to them many millions of pounds in gold and securities. We have received exactly nothing in return,” he said.
