KASHMIR’S FUTURE: FAILURE OF UNO COMMISSION
NEW DELHI, September 21 (Rec. 11 a.m.). —The 14 months’ mission of the United Nations Kashmir Commission has ended with the announcement that it can .do no more to solve the problem of Kashmir’s future. It leaves tomorrow for Geneva, where it will prepare its report to the Security Councjl.
The point on which the commission failed was the plan backed by Britain’s Prime Minister, Mr Attlee and President Truman for India and Pakistan to arbitrate on Kashmir. This failed when India refused to accept the proposal.
