Vice-Regal Visit: Investiture In Greymouth

The Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, accompanied by Lady Freyberg, will pay a brief visit to Greymouth on Monday, November 7, for the purpose of holding an investiture when His Excellency will present insignia decorations and medals to all recipients residing in the West Coast district.

Their Excellencies will arrive by car from Hanmer Springs at about 12.30 p.m. and will stay at Revington’s Hotel. They will leave for Wellington, probably by air, early the following morning. Arrangements have been made for the investiture to be held in the Regent Theatre at 2.30 p.m. The ceremony will be open to the public and the local arrangements are being made by the Army authorities. The Town Clerk of Greymouth, Mr N. E. Clemens, has received advice from Parliament House that if it would be possible for the Greymeuth Borough Council to provide any assistance in the matter of floral decorations for the occasion this would be much appreciated.
