OTAGO FARMER LEFT VALUABLE AUSTRALIAN ESTATE

DUNEDIN, September 21 (P.A.).— Mr J. F. Partridge, a farmer, of Lowburn Ferry, near Cromwell, was recently left an estate in New South Wales valued at more than £40,000. The estate is of 10,000 acres and carries 5000 sheep. Mr Partridge said the estate belonged to a Mr Weir, with whom he had worked on a Central Otago station for a short time nearly 40 years ago. Since then they had neither seen nor written to each other. Mr Weir left Central Otago just before the First World War, and the acquisition of such a valuable property was evidence of the extent to which he had prospered, said Mr Partridge. \ Mr and Mrs Partridge recently returned from Australia after inspecting the estate, which is at Warren, about 250 miles north-west of Sydlt is Mr Partridge’s intention to remain at Lowburn Ferry, but he will probably make periodical visits to his Australian property. A manager has been appointed to run the estate.
