REEFTON SALES OF SLACK COAL IN NORTH ISLAND DECLINE
REEFTON, This Day (0.C.).— There has been a considerable decline in the shipment of Reefton coal to the North Island, and the consignments of slack coal have been almost completely stopped. This has resulted in a drop in the outputs from the mines and it is understood that some difficulty is now being met in the marketing of slack coal. Last year, sales of slack, particularly in the North Island were heavy resulting in considerable regular consignments' from the Reefton railway yards. The advent of warm weather, with the consequent decline in household coal sales has also had an effect on output. This decline is illustrated by a comparison in the weekly consignments from Reefton. In the first three .weeks in September coal consigned at ■the Reefton station yards totalled 1919 tons, 2182 tons and 1994 tons. For the corresponding three weeks in September of last year the figures were 1900 tons, 2300 tons and 2448 tonsJ PERSONAL Sister T. Blackadder has commenced duty at.the Inangahua HosPi Miss J. Rayner, a recent arrival from .England, has commenced nursing duty at the Inangahua Hospital.
