LONDON RAILWAY WORKERS TO START “GO SLOW”
LONDON, September 19.—Railwaymen tonight voted to “go slow” from midnight on Wednesday to press the demand by their union, the 450,000-strong National Union of Railwaymen, for an overall pay increase of 10s a week. This decision, which was taken at a meeting of delegates representing 50,000 London and suburban railwaymen, is the first workers’ reaction to the “work harder for the same pay” appeal by the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir Stafford Cripps).
