Forty Years A Bishop , Today the Primate of New Zealand (Archbishop West-Watson) will complete his fortieth year as a bishop.- “In spite of a terrible slump and a terrible war which have rather upset the even tenor of my. time here it has been a very happy time, because I have had every possible help and kindness,” said Archbishop WestWatson in an interview in Christchurch yesterday. The Archbishop came to New Zealand as Bishop of Christchurch, with his wife and five children, in 1926. He became Primate of New Zealand in 1940.
