New Policy In Public Service Is Indicated
WELLINGTON, This Day (P.A.).— The Public Service Commission is offering a maximum salary of up to £2500 for the forthcoming vacant position of Director-General of Health when Dr T. E. Ritchie retires on superannuation, after more than 42 years’ service with the department.
This salary is nearly £5OO above any other position in the Government service and £BOO more than hasi previously been paid to the head of the Health Department. There has been considerable comment recently on the difference between salaries in thePublic Service and earnings outside and the new salary offered for this position represents a marked change in policy. The commission will also invite applications from, both inside and outside the Public Service for the vacant' position of Director of the Hospitals Division in the Health Department and rhe two newly-created positions of assistant-director of that division.
