Marred By “Human Wolves”
LONDON, September 19 (Rec. 9. a.m.).— The organisation and conduct of a beauty competition held at Palermo, Sicily, last week, to elect “Miss Europe, 1949,” was strongly attacked by the two British contestants, Miss Elaine Margaret Price and Miss June Mitchell. Miss Mitchell withdrew from the contest some days ago, after her father had said that ishe had been pestered by men throughout her visit to Palermo, and that the people who followed in the track of international beauty competitions were “nothing but human wolves.”
