Miss M. Anderson, M.L.C., left by the air service this morning for Wellington. , , Mr T. Barrow, Air Secretary, left by the air service this morning on return to Wellington. Mr and Mrs R. B. Tansley left this morning on a holiday ,tour of New Zealand. Miss D. McDiarmid left by this morning’s express for Auckland en route to Suva where she will pay a holiday visit to her brother, the Rev. Father B. McDiarmid. She was accompanied by Miss M. Grogan. Miss Melvyn L. Wilson has been appointed principal of the Wellington East Girls’ College in succession to Miss N. G. Isaac, who is retiring at the end of the year.—(P.A.) A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr D. Heaphy, a former member of the club, was passed at the annual meeting of the United Lawn Tennis Club last night. Mr M. L. McGlashan, son of -Mr and Mrs L. D. McGlashan, Greymouth, who is a lecturer in physical chemistry a«. Canterbury University College and winner of the Sims Empire Scholarship, will leave this evening for Reading University, England, where he will continue his studies of thermodynamics under Professor E. A. Guggenheim. Mr McGlashan expects to be absent from New Zealand for two years and he will be accompanied by his wife. Guests at the Albion Hotel include: —Miss S. Hanley (Dunedin); Mrs M.
