Two People Strack By Car: Paroa Road Accident
Two people were.injured, one seriously, in an accident involving a motor-car and pedestrians on the State highway between Paroa and Gladstone about 9.30 last night. Mrs Eileen Muir, aged 28 years, of Gladstone, suffered a compound fracture of the right leg, bruising and abrasions, while her husband, Mr Brian Muir,, a sawmill worker, escaped with severe bruising of the right leg. Mrs Muir also suffered from loss of blood from the injured leg. '■ Mr and Mrs Muir were walking on the right hand side of the highway from Paroa, in the direction of their home at Gladstone, when they were struck by a car proceeding towards them. Mrs Muir, who was walking on the inside of her husband, received the most severe blow, but both were knocked down. . The driver of the car involved m the accident was Mr Sidney Common, of Christchurch, fields officer for the Disabled Servicemen’s League, who -was proceeding to Greymouth. . Mrs Muir was admitted to the Grey Hospital and her condition this afternoon was reported to be satisfactory.
