OBITUARY Mrs Rebecca Wright

I The death occurred at the Grey 1 Hospital yesterday after a fairly '■ lengthy illness of one of the bestl known residents of Runanga, Mrs Re- | becca Wright. Aged 62 years, Mrs I Wright was born in Lancashire, Eng- ■ land and commenced work at an early ■■ age in the textile industry. She came I to Runanga 36 years ago. Mrs Wright was connected with | many local bodies. She was an execu- ■ tive member and social secretary of the Runanga branch of the New Zealand Labour Party and a member ot the Runanga Borough Council, being the only woman to be elected to the council. She was also a member of the Runanga School Committee and president of the Runanga Women’s Cooperative Guild, which she represented at the recent Dunedin conference. Mrs Wright was also a member of the , Mothers’ Union of St Thomas’s Church, i Survived by her husband, Mrs Wright 1 also leaves one daughter, Mrs E. Hardie (Napier) and five grandchildren. A brother is Mr James Sidwell (United States). The funeral will leave Sampson’s Chapel tomorrow evening for the Greymouth railway station, thence for : Christchurch for cremation. # Tributes to the work of Mrs Wright and a motion of sympathy with the relatives were carried at a. meeting of the Runanga Labour Party last night. Mr Richard Boucher . The death of a well-known West Coast dredge builder and contractor, Mr Richard Henry Boucher, occurred at Hokitika last evening. Born at Kaniere 73 years ago, Mr Boucher had lived in the district for the whole of his life. As a contractor, he was Connected with a number of major works in the district over many years. He was engaged on the construction of the Hokitika breakwater and also was the contractor for the construction of the first Rimu gold dredge, built by an American company. He had suffered only a brief illness. Mr Boucher was not married and he is survived by one sister, Miss Lilian Boucher, of Kaniere. The funeral will ,■ take place tomorrow afternoon, at the i Hokitika cemetery.
