GOLF D. L. Woon Was OutStanding : Won West Coast Golf Title

1 D. L. Woon clearly demonstrated his outstanding ability when he outclassed the field last week-end to capture the West Coast golf championship title. Both L. Rhodes and B. W.. Caulton, whom Woon defeated 2 and 1, played good golf, but with his greater variety of strokes and experience in match play Woon always had something in hand. His scores 75, 75, 71, 72, 74 against a par of 75, were outstanding. L. Rhodes played well to'score a win in the Kaiata Plate. Rhodes was Woon’s first victim in the championship match play,, but carried on to score a popular win in the consolation event. Colin Harrison, who learnt his golf at Greymouth, but is now at Westport, played good golf to win the Intermediate Championship. Harrison’s keenness was noted in this column last season and he will soon be competing with the seniors. The junior championship was won by T. O’Connor, who played excellent golf for his win. He had a struggle with M'. J. Lynch, in the final, being all square after the morning round, but gained the lead over the final 18 holes to win comfortably by 3 and 2.
