Two Babies Born After Deaths Of Mothers
NEW YORK, Sept 1 (Rec. 11 a.m.). —Two babies were born today after their mothers had died from poliomyelitis. In Halifax, Mrs Margaret Hood, aged 27, a Canadian ex-serviceman’s English-born bride, gave new life after giving up her own. Mrs Hood, who was stricken with the disease three weeks ago, was delivered of a healthy daughter by a caesarian operation three minutes after she died. In Easton, Pennsylvania, a two pound girl was born by caesarian operation three minutes after her mother, Mrs Patricia Altemus, had died from the disease. The child was placed in an incubator and the hospital said she was in good condition.
