Miners Make Donation The Inangahua Miners’ Union at a meeting last week-end decided to make a donation to the election campaign fund of the Labour Party, at the rate of £1 per member. Mails For Britain Surface mails for letters only for the United Kingdom, Eire and Europe, except the Balkan States and Italy, will close at the Chief Post Office, Greymouth, at 5.30 p.m. on September 7 and at noon on September 13. The winner was Mr W. Clarke, of Blackball, who collected 16 heads. Mr W. Fisher was second with 15 tokens, and Kevin Fisher, a youngster, was third with 12 heads. It was profitable shooting for the winner. He received the bounty of 10s for eachblack shag shot, netting £B, and collected a further £5 for returning the greatest number of heads. The drive was successful from the society’s point of view, it being reported that 150 black shags had .been destroyed and that many more were shot but not retrieved. .
