BURSARIES FOR STUDENTS OF PHYSIOTHERAPY

WELLINGTON, This Day (P.A.). —The Minister of Health, Miss Howard, said today that to encourage persons to take up physiotherapy training the Cabinet had approved an offer of a bursary to physiotherapy students who undertook that on qualifying they would accept employment with a hospital board or the Department of Health for a specified period.

The normal course of training covers two years eight months, including holidays. The bursaries are to be worth £7O yearly for up to three years, plus a boarding allowance of £4O yearly for two years.

Students who receive the bursary for the 'full period will be required to give two years’ service after qualifying. The period of service will be reduced proportionately if the term of the bursary is less than three years.
