LINDBOM SCORED MORE THAN HALF OF TEAM’S POINTS

Although he failed fully to reproduce his form of the Seddon Shield match “at Westport, the West Coast toil-back, J. Lindbom, was one of the stars of the southern tour. Playing in all five matches, Lindbom scored 23 points—more than half of the side’s total—and the fourth match of the tour saw him bring up his 100 points for the season.

With a splendid penalty goal and an even better field goal from more than 40 yards out, Lindbom brought his total to 106 points at Rangiora on Saturday. His total would have been much larger had his goal-kicking form not suffered a slump in Southland and Otago, where he missed a number of comparatively easy shots. Though West Coast lost -four of its five games, there was little difference in the scores. The tourists scored 41 points in all while the home teams’ aggregate was 51.
