success. REEFTON SUCCESSFUL BALL HELD BY FIRE BRIGADE

REEFTON, This Day (O.C.).—the excellent organisation carried out by the women’s committee and the members of the brigade again this year was rewarded by the success of the annual Reefton Fire Brigade ball, held in the gymnasium hall on Friday night. Special efforts had been made by the hall decorators. The floor was filled to capacity, including many visitors. There was also a much larger attendance of onlookers than has been the case for many years. Keen interest was taken in the annual contest, for “the belle of the ball,” Miss P. Panckhurst (Reefton) being the winner. The other finalists "selected by the judges were Misses P. Palmer, M. Hindmarsh, and E. Nicholls. The trophy for the winner was presented by Superintendent C. Coxall, who congratulated Miss Panckhurst on her success. Miss E. Blackadder and partner won the monte carlo and Mr Coxall and partner a lucky spot dance. The supper arrangements showed evidence of much hard work. Rene Jacobs’s orchestra provided the music and Mr R. Bartlett, sen., and Firemen A. McKenzie and M. Skelton were M.C.’s.
