DEATH OF “VICAR OF THE NORTH POLE”
VATICAN CITY, August 19 (Rec. 10 a.m.). —The “vicar of the North Pole,” 66-year-old Catholic Padre Primo Girard, whose parish covered 50,000 square miles of frozen desert from Baffin Land to the North Pole, is dead. He lived in an igloo for 22 years and taught Christianity to the Eskimos. ■
