NATURE STUDY CAN BE APPLIED TO EVERYDAY LIFE

If the fundamentals of nature study were applied to the many differences of everyday life, the human Relationship among nations would be much more amicable. This contention was expressed by Dr E. Lawrence Palmer, of Cornell University, New York, in an address to members of the Grey and Westland branches of the New Zealand Teachers’ Educational Institute yesterday. About 80 teachers listened 'to the address, which was given in Harkers’ lounge. Mr D. Gillespie, of’Hokitika, who proposed a vote of thanks to the speaker, said that, he was sure that all the teachers were inspired by Dr Palmer’s talk and that they would resume their work ‘ after the school holidays with a different outlook. An interesting demonstration of how to construct a weather house for class-room use from ordinary household ware was given after the address.
