The desire of the Wanganui Harbour Board to hire, the Greymouth Harbour Board’s dredge Mawhera for a period to carry out work at Wanganui, was the subject of conferences at Greymouth yesterday. Captain Stewart, harbourmaster at Wanganui, and Mr J. Hedditch, secretary of the Wanganui Harbour Board, visited Greymouth and yesterday attended special meetings of Greymouth Harbour Board members. The meetings were private, but a report of the discussions will be placed before the next monthly meeting of the Greymouth board, when it is expected that a decision will be made.
