ATLANTIC PACT DEFENCE PLANS ARE DISCUSSED

LONDON, August.2 (Rec. 1.5 p >m .)_ —The American Joint Chiefs of Staff will meet the British Chiefs of Staff, Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fraser, Field-Marshal Sir William Slim,'and Marshal of the Royal Air Force Lord Tedder tomorrow. On Thursday thev will meet the Danish Chiefs of Staff and later the Norwegian before flying to Paris.

In Paris they will have talks on Friday with’Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery and the military leaders of France, Belgium and Holland.

The United States Army Chief of Staff, General Omar Bradley, said in an interview in Grafen-

wolir today that, it, was to be expected that all members of the Western Union would function within the Atlantic Pffct. of which they were memebfs. but it still had to be decided whether the Atlantic Pact would supersede the Western Union Paet.
