Impressive Win In Waikato Steeples By Golden Reign

HAMILTON, May 22.—A brilliant display of jumping was given by Golden Reign in winning the £2OOO Waikato Steeplechase at Te Rapa on Saturday. Whooray, only a length away, also gave a splendid display to be narrowly beaten. The win favourite, Brookby Song, was clearly not at his best and finished a moderate third, without having a real chance of beating the winner. Third into the straight in the main flat race, the President’s Handicap, the Greymouth-owned Dark Arrow was unable to improve in the run home, and the Auckland horses, Redingote and Foxbay, got up to take the major prizes.
