Mr E. Mitchell, of Barrytown, is a patient at Lewisham Hospital, Christchurch, following an operation. Mr B. J. Dunne, West Coast tutor for the Adult Education Department of Canterbury University College, has arrived in Greymouth to take up his duties.
Mr M. G. E. Kelly, of Greymouth, secretary of the West Coast Provincial Council of the Hibernian Australasian Catholic Benefit Society, left today for Hastings, to attend the annual district meeting of the society. Mr T. L. Hayman, a farmer, of Willowbridge, was selected as the National I Party’s candidate for the Oamaru seat at the General Election. There were five nominees, Messrs T. R. Beatty, a building contractor, of Oamaru, Mr J. B. Chapman, a retired farmer, of Oamaru, Hayman, Dr A, S. Moody, medical practitioner, Dunedin, and Mr B. A. Todd, a retired farmer, of Goodwood. Mr Hayman has had a long association with the National Party. He has been chairman of the Waimate branch since 1940, and is a member of the Dominion council. Apart from his farm, Mr Hayman conducts a large farm contracting business. He is a married man with three children. — (P.A.) Guests at the Albion Hotel include:— Mrs J.
