Childbirth During Hypnosis A woman who gave birth to twins under hypnosis said that all she could remember was feeling a drowsiness with a sensation of being far away—as it she was floating in space. Dr George Newbold said this in an article on painless childbirths by hypnosis in the British Medical Journal. .Dr Newbold said that in the early stages ; therapeutic suggestions were attempted. “After about 15 minutes the patient began to respond and became quieter and relaxed.” Dr Newbold said.. “A few minutes later she was sleeping. The suggestion of ‘no pain' was continued for 10 minutes, and she remained asleep for some hours.” When tne patient was examined on awakenmg she said she felt refreshed. Dr Newbold said that in another case a mother under light hypnosis was able to cooperate during the birth of a 101 b foaby.—London, May 20,
