New Racecourse Inspector

Mr T, W. Allsop, of Hawera, Taranaki, has been appointed racecourse inspectoi' for the South Island in succession to Mr J. Torrance, who will retire on July 31.

Mr Allsop, who was a member of the detective force, resigned in March, 1947, and since then has been racecourse inspector in the North Island. The two jumping events al Washdyke tomorrow "have attracted strong fields and .should provide spectacular contests. The Tekapo Hurdles bears a very open appearance, especially as the proved candidates will. be opposed by several jumpers fresh to the game.
