Bride Fled From Altar Rail
(P.A.) WHANGAREI, This Day.
At Kaikohe on Saturday a bride choose the “I will” moment to cancel her wedding with the intended groom. She was standing at the altar rail of the Methodist Church when the incident took place. The officiating minister had already asked the bridegroom the vital question and received the response, “I will,” but when he repeated the question to the bride she paused a moment before turning quickly and running down the aisle and out of the church. For an hour and a half in the beribboned bridal taxi, efforts were made to persuade her to return, but without success. The wedding was arranged on a fulldress scale, with many gupsts, an impressive array of presents and a big breakfast.
