VIOLENT ANTI-U.S. SPEECH BY BRITISH LEFT WING M.P.
(Rec. 12.30 p.m.) PARIS, April 2,i. Delegates hissed and booed when Mr John Platts-Mills, an Independent member of the House of Commons, claimed at the “World Peace Congress” in Paris today that the pilot who dropped the atom bomb on Hiroshima was serving with the United States Air Force in Britain. . “Send the American occupation forces packing out of the country,” he said. “We who want peace must break with the policy that puts the country under the yoke of the Yankee overlord. “We must break with Bevin, whose hands are stained with the blood of Spaniards, Greeks, Arabs, and Jews. We must realise that, without Britain, the Americans will have no secure base in Europe from which to wage an anti-Soviet war.”
