Wanganella Has Rough Trip Across Tasman
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Another chapter in-the colourful career of the Wanganella was added when she arrived at Wellington from Svdney this morning, 24 hours late, after one of the roughest crossings that Tasman travellers can recall. The hove-to from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday, when about half-way between Sydney and Wellington, said the commander, Captain H. F. Norrie, today. Bad conditions were experienced soon after she left Sydney and strong south-wester-ly gales were encountered. Heavy rain and thick weather were encountered on nearing Wellington and caused further delay. Captain Norrie said the decision to heave-to was done in the interests nt the passengers’ comfort. There was very little damage, only one window on an upper deck being broken.
