Beryl Mercer as his mother, Slim Somerville ' and Louis Wolheim play very important parts. Also screening, March of Time presents “Battle for Germany.”
Regent Theatre FINALLY TONIGHT: “Blanche Fury,” with Stewart Granger, Valerie Hobson. Commencing Tomorrow: “White Cradle Inn,” starring Madeleine Carroll, Michael Rennie,'lan Hunter. A. Swiss village has been the refuge of French children during the war. Roger, one of them, has been billeted at an inn owned by Magda ; whose marriage to Rudolph is unhappy. Magda wants to adopt the boy, but Rudolph refuses to sign the paper unless she makes over the inn to him . She reluctantly agrees. Determined to win the friendship of Rudolph, who considers him a coward, Rodger persuades him to take him on a climb on to a mountain peak. Rodger misses his footing and crashes on to a ledge below. Rudolph, suspended in mid-air, supported only by a rope around the boy’s waist, realises that one or both will be killed. He deliberately cuts the rope and falls to his death. Roger is rescued and taken back to the inn by Magda and the village doctor, who is in love with her.
