DUNEDIN FIRE BRIGADE HAS UNUSUAL PROBLEM
(P.A.) DUNEDIN, This Day. The Dunedin Metropolitan Fire Brigade is faced with a problem which at the moment appears to defy solution at Donaghy’s burnt-out rawmaterial store in Bradshaw street. The whole i ; oof to the building is resting on burning bales of sisal. The fire cannot be put out until the bales are removed from the building, and the bales cannot be removed from the building until the fire can be put out. The next step should be the removal of the roof, but this cannot be done while the fire burns. The fire is still smouldering in the bales and it is eating away at those on the ground. As they are burnt so will the top bales move, with the result that the roof will probably collapse.
