Mayor’s Tribute To N.Z. Master Printers
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. “The master printers of New Zealand have sent out work equal to anything produced overseas,” said the Mayor, Mr J. A. C. Allum, when he welcomed the delegates to the fortysecond annual conference of master printers in Auckland today. He congratulated them on the achievement in so developing their art. Mr J. M. Somerville, of Dunedin, presided. He charged some printing firms with “pinching” men from other employers, instead of training apprentices. More skilled tradesmen were needed.
