Successful Sports Meeting Is Held At Brunner
Chopping, cycling, and women’s marching events were the main attractions at the Brunner Sports Club’s meeting, which was held under ideal conditions at the Taylorville domain on Saturday afternoon. The meeting was well attended, and most of the events were keenly ..contested. The main chop of the day, the 14in underhand, was won by V. Curtain, who also gained third place in the 12in upright chop. The Neame trophv for the axeman gaining most points went to R. Youngman, with 13 points, and F. Lemon (10 points) was runner-up.
B. Harford was the most successful competitor in the cycling events, winning both the half and three-quarter-mile events in good time. On the short grass track, Harford was seen to advantage, and his success was well deserved.
The Cobden team was judged the best entry in the women’s marching events, to win the Stone Challenge Cup and the Old Boys’ Centennial Cup, while Miss N. Patterson (Cobden) and Miss B. Frost (Owens) tied for the leader’s cup. Detailed results were as follows:—
