Charges Dismissed The judicial committee of the Wellington Racing Club decided on Saturday to dismiss charges brought against C. H. Bowry and K. Chote in an inquiry on the non-totalisator event on the first day of the autumn meeting. The committee had received a report from the New Zealand Racing Conference on the riding boots submitted to it and decided to reopen the inquiry. The conference advised tnat there was no objection to riders wearing light heelless boots known as “cheaters,” in a race. It was pointed out, however, that riders must not change their boots or any other equipment after weighing put before the start Qi the race. The lines of £lO imposed on Bowry and Chote on the first day ot the meeting were cancelled by the committee.

Jockey Disqualified Three months’ disqualification was imposed on the jockey B. D. Markwick on Saturday for careless riding in the Herries Memorial Cup at Te Aroha on February 26, when Master Coronach and Silver Secret fell about a furlong from home. Breach Of Contract The judicial committee of the Wellington Racing Club on Saturday ordered that the connections of Hostess, winner of the Champion Hack Handicap. should pay K. Chote the wanning riding fee. Chote was engaged to ride Hostess in each of her engagements at the meeting. He rode Hostess on the first day of the meeeting, but W. J. Broughton had the mount when she won on Saturday. Tauloch’s Running W. R. Hooton, the rider of Tauloch, was called before the judicial committee after the North Island Challenge Stakes at Trentham on Saturday and was asked about his handling of the colt in the race.
