Motor Car Capsizes A spectacular motor accident occurred in High street, Greymouth, about 7.15 on Saturday evening, but there were no serious consequences. In endeavouring to avoid a girl cyclist who emerged from Franklin street, the car, driven by Mr George C. Cuff, of Blaketown, struck the kerb of the lawn at the side of the roadway and capsized on to the lawn. Petrol and oil flowed from the vehircle but fortunately did not ignite. The occupants of the car escaped injury and the vehicle itself was not badly damaged. Sugar Shortage
Unless relief is forthcoming in the near future, wholesale merchants may have to adopt some form of rationing to meet the present sugar shortage in Greymouth. Merchants stated this morning that stocks in Greymouth were low and the shipment being dispatched from Auckland would be insufficient to cover bare necessities. It was understood that the smaller shipment was due to a quota system instituted by the sugar company for various reasons and it is expected that this will remain in force until about the end of June. Apparently the present industrial troubles in Auckland are also having some effect, on the supplies of sugar.
