DEARTH OF LEADERS
“In our community organisation one thing overshadows all. A handful of men, mainly older men, have to run all the civic and welfare activities of this city,” slated the president (Mr J. V. Hott) in his address contained in the annual report of the Wellington Junior Chamber of Commerce.
“Very few new faces are coming forward to take even a small share of the- work,’ continued Mr Hott. “The same applies to practically every other form of activity involving groups of people—even sports clubs. There seems to be a dearth of leaders right throughout New Zealand. '’“lf our organisation is to flourish and properly carry out its first duty of service to the community; if our city and our fine country of New Zealand are to prosper, we must have more men, preferably younger men, as leaders.”
