CRICKET WOMEN’S MATCHES TO COMMENCE ON OCTOBER 30
A decision to commence the competition for the Dittman Cup on October 30 was reached at a meeting of the. West Coast Women’s Cricket Association last evening when it was reported that six teams had been nominated, with the possibility of Technical Old Girls also fielding-a team later in the season. A trophy, to be known as the Presidential Trophy, was received from the president, Mrs L. Beck, for the highest aggregate score in club matches for the coming season. Miss H. Jackson was appointed delegate to attend the New Zealand women’s cricket conference in Wellington on October 30, when the itinerary of the English women’s tour of New Zealand will be discussed.
Messrs R. Donaldson and R. Lee, and Mrs R. Donaldson were appointed a fixtures committee.
Mr L. Lindley was appointed sole selector.
The following were nominated by clubs as umpires:—Messrs E. Wickes, F. Stapleton, H. Pierson, M. Baird, R. Donaldson, J. Finerty, F. Malloy, R. Pascoe, J. D. Anderson, D. Dewar, F. McGrath, W. Balderstone, J. McNaughton.
It was decided that the same points system as used in the men’s competition be adopted for women’s matches.
The United Club was granted permission to play a friendly fixture with Blackball tomorrow. A donation of £3 3s to the West Coast Cricket Association fox' the use of wickets last season was approved. Mrs L. Beck presided at the meeting and also present were Mesdames R. Donaldson, D. Horrack, Misses N. Thomas, N. Rodden, H. Jackson, and M. McGuinness (secretary).
