NORMAL SERVICE BY ‘LIMITED’ EXPRESSES AFTER FOUR YEARS
(P.A.) - WELLINGTON, This Day. On November 28 the “night limited” express passenger trains between Wellington and Auckland will resume the normal frequency of service after more than four years’-re-stricted running, necessitated by the coal shortage. This was announced today by the Minister of Railways (Mr R. Semple) who said the restoration of the service was made possible by the increasing number and more extensive employment of oilburning locomotives on the route. The Minister added that fuelling facilities would soon be sufficient to enable the oil-fired locomotives to be used over the whole length of the North Island Main Trunk railway. Mr Semple said there would be two trains each way, nightly, between Wellington and Auckland dur- ( ing the coming summer, except that the 7.15 p.m., limited would not run on Saturday eights.
