Deaths And Injuries In Earthquake
LONDON, October 9.
Six thousand . injured have been flown out of Ashkhabad, capital of the Soviet. Republic of Turkoman, since an earthquake started in the area last Tuesday night,, says the Moscow radio. Other injured are still being evacuated, Teheran newspapers put the number killed at 400, but no official figures are available. . The radio says that 1000 doctors and nurses were rushed to Ashkhabad. Emergency hospitals were established arid a temporary water supply organised to replace the damaged water works. The earthquake also severely damaged Meshed and other Persian frontier towns.
