THE CASKET CONTAINING THE REMAINS OF THE LATE MOHAMED ALI JINNAH, first Gover-nor-General of Pakistan, lies on a gun-carriage as, escorted by personnel of the Pakistan Army, the funeral procession makes its slow way to the burial ground on the outskirts of Karachi on September 12. Immense crowds of wailing people lined the route to pay last respects to their leader, a son of Karachi, capital of the State for which he did so much to bring into being.
