GOLF MISS TAAFFE AND MRS SMITH WIN FOURSOMES CUPS

Miss M. Taaffe and Mrs Allan Smith, with a net- aggregate of 226 for three rounds, won the competition for the Robertson-Neville Foursomes Cups, the final round of which was played by the Greymouth Women’s ooii Club at Kaiata on Saturday. Miss Blair and Mrs. Thorpy, with 229, were run-ners-up, and Miss Deere and Mrs. Heaphy, 234, were next. After two rounds Miss Blair and Mrs Thorpy had a lead of seven strokes on the field, but Miss Taaffe and Mrs Smith returned an excellent card on Saturday, 98-27-71, beating the former pair by three strokes. Other scores in the third round were:—

Mrs Chivers and Mrs Meldrum 100-27-73; Mrs Hooper and Miss HayMacKenzie 93-18-75; Miss Deere and Mrs Heaphy 103-24-79; Miss Blair arid Mis Thorpy 101-20-81; Mrs McCarthy and Mrs Batty 105-24-81. The C division will play a flag match over 13 holes at Kaiata on Wednesday. The draw is as follows:—
