ANOTHER LABOUR MAJORITY REDUCED AT BY-ELECTION
(Recd. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 8. The Labour candidate, Mr Malcolm MacPherson, won the Stirling byelection by a majority of 2175 votes. The by-election became necessary following the» death of the former Labour member, Mr J. Westwood. Mr MacPherson polled 17,001 votes, Mr William Forbes (Conservative) 14,826 votes and Mr Robert Curran (Scottish Nationalist) 2831 votes. Labour has held the seat since 1935 and had a majority of 4003 at the 1945 General Elections.
