TRUCE OBSERVERS STRAFED BY EGYPTIAN PLANES
(Rec. 9.55 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 8. Four Egyptian Air Force planes strafed four United Nations truce observers at the Jewish . settlement of Gath, according to an independent eye-witness, who, with the observers of the United Nations personnel, were not hurt, but there were; some casualties among the Jewish defender's of the settlement. Official Israeli sources state that the Jewish suburbs of Ramath Rachel, Arnono and Maker Haim on the southern outskirts of Jerusalem were subjected to heavy shelling and fierce machine-gun and rifle fire, but no casualties have been reported.
