Kent Dismissed Twice By Australia In Three Hours

(Rec. 10.10 a.m.) LONDON, August 22. Twice dismissing Kent in a little over three hours for a total of 175. the Australians gave the county one of the soundest drubbings of the tou/. Lindwall was chiefly responsible for the win by an innings and 186 runs. He took six for 41 of the 18 wickets which fell to bowlers and nonplussed the county batsmen with his speed, swerve and accuracy. His total bag for the tour is now 78 wickets at a cost of 15.32. Kent made only 51 in the first innings in reply to the Australians’ 361 and seemed headed for a second rout when they lost live for 45 in the second innings, but Evans and Pawson, in a carefree sixth-wicket partnership of 71 in half an hour — chiefly at McCool’s expense—brought a redeeming air of enterprise to an otherwise inept display. They did not, however, long delay the inevitable end. It is the first match the Australians have won in less than two ol the allotted three days and the thirteenth innings win of the tour. A record crowd of 23,000 saw the play.
