ATHLETICS Mrs Blankers-Koen’s Visit To Australia
SYDNEY, August’ 16. The secretary of the Amateur Athletic Union, Mr A. Hudson, said tonight that the A.A.U. knew nothing of a proposed Australian tour by Mrs Blankers-Koen (Dutch woman running champion). He said the A.A.U. would not permit her to compete against Australian amateurs unless it first sanctioned her visit. He said that if a syndicate wished to bring Mrs Blankers-Koen to Australia, the A.A.U. would have to make the approach. - The union would not allow any amateur athlete to bo brought to Australia merely for profit,
